This market is continuously moving to a stage where either first year incoming associates starting dates have been deferred or their pay reduced drastically. This is resulting in the law firms acquiring a diamond like shape, with few partners , more middle level  associates, but again few entry level associates. This is resulting in a lot of work being outsourced to contract attorneys, which was getting done earlier by first year associates.  This would encourage outsourcing and off shoring both, as need be.
